Our Experience by Pastor Johnny Bell
My wife, my children and I know firsthand the misery heartache and pain brought on by a lifestyle of drug addiction. Even though we came from totally different sides of the fence, we both ended up in the same place called “the dumps”.
My wife was brought up in Foster Care, went to school and even college. By her own admittance she was an educated fool. Her first encounter with crack cocaine was to lose weight, which quickly turned to addiction. She sometimes worked two and three jobs just to support her habit.
My story’s a little different. As a little child I was molested by different individuals in my family, after being fed alcohol. I fought and struggled with those events in my life. I questioned my sexuality. Was I supposed to be with boys or girls? Men or women? All the time I was trying to drown out the pain with alcohol, sex, drugs, etc. I ended up quitting school, losing jobs, homes, respect and everything else that comes with living that lifestyle.
And even though our children were not drug addicts, they were forced to live a drug addict’s lifestyle.
More than 20 years later we can thank God for Restoration Ministry’s Men’s and Women’s Homes from which both of us are “graduates”. We are truly witnesses of the restoring power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jehovah Jireh by Jekalyn Carr
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Last week’s Food for Thought talked about how the weather changes and how storms come and go. This week much of St. Louis City was devasted by an F4 Tornado, resulting in five deaths and millions of dollars of damages to homes and businesses.
Mark 6:45-51 recalls how after feeding the 5,000 Jesus told his Disciples to get in the boat, cross the Sea of Galilee and that He would meet them on the other side. We know about that horrible storm that hit them right as they made it to the middle of the sea. Winds blew, waves crashed, and the boat was about to sink. The Disciples just knew they wouldn’t make it to the other side.
But look a little deeper in that text. In verse 48 it says Jesus had intended to walk right pastthe disciples who were terrified in the boat. Why would he do that? Simple. Jesus said he would meet them on the other side knowing full well that the storm was coming.
Think about this: Jesus didn’t just walk on the water, He walked on the STORM. And, when He spoke the storm was over. He was in control of EVERYTHING the whole time.
No matter how big or destructive the storms in your life may be always remember Jesus is right in the midst of your storm. He will get you to the other side.
This week keep those who went through the tornado in your prayers.
Welcome to The Set!
This is a Harp and Bowl Worship Service. Harp and Bowl worship is a practice where Harps (songs of Praise & Worship) and Bowls (prayers) are combined to create a dynamic structure for intercessory prayer (inspired by Revelation 5:8).
Harp and Bowl emphasizes unified prayer, congregational singing, and a flow between intercession, worship, and personal prayer. Join us in person or send your prayer request by using our chat icon or email us at info@stlrestorationchurch.org and we'll pray for you.
We center our prayer service around a monthly focus scripture which you can find below.
11 So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.
12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. (New Living Translation)
